A 54-year-old California who was fleeing police met an untimely dead-end when he bailed from his car and into the path of an oncoming Prius.
The 16-minute police chase in San Jose was initiated when Santa Clara County deputies spotted the suspect sitting in a car with a broken windshield and paper license plates. When the man saw them approaching, he slammed into reverse, struck a patrol car and took off.
When the officers took chase (along with their summoned backup), the unnamed suspect made several attempts to hit patrol vehicles.
When the suspect crashed into the median in Sunnyvale, he attempted to flee his vehicle.
Ultimately, in a battle between the law and the lawless, the clear winner was the 45-year-old woman behind the wheel of the Toyota Prius that struck him.
While CHP officers administered first aid on the scene, the man died upon arrival at the hospital.
According to SFGate, no one else was harmed in the incident.
