The suspected driver who crashed his car into two Corpus Christi officers has been arrested and formally charged.
According to KSAT, Brandon Portillo hit officer Alan McCollum and Michael Love as the two were questioning another driver they had pulled over for racing on Friday night.
Both officers were outside their patrol vehicle at the time Portillo sped through and struck them both.
Officer McCollum passed away, though Officer Love is stable and is recovering from his injuries.
Portillo was also transported to the hospital. The department says he was intoxicated at the time of the crash.
He is being charged with intoxication manslaughter, assault, and driving with a suspended license.

I hate to hear of any LEO being killed or hurt in the line of duty. These men and woman are putting their lives on the line EVERY day, and they deserve respect, not death. Yes, I know there are some “bad” ones out there, I’ve run into a few in my 71 years. But I respect that uniform and what it stands for.
