During a traffic stop, 29-year-old Steven Jeffrey tried to reach under the driver’s seat of his truck before being pulled away by New Athens Police Chief Jason Simmerman. This led to a brief struggle where Jeffrey began to run away, only to be tasered and fall face first on to a cement pathway causing major damage to Jeffrey’s face.
