A Massachusetts man who posts workout videos on social media died in police custody Thursday, having been detained after he was caught stabbing his Tinder date.
YouTube bodybuilder Erich Stelzer died en-route to the hospital after he was subdued with stun guns deployed by the Cohasset Police, who found Stelzer “actively assaulting a 24-year-old woman with weapons including a knife.”
The victim, Maegan Tapley, was slashed and stabbed repeatedly by Stelzer, who met her on the dating/hook-up app, Tinder.
Stelzer -who was allegedly suffering from a mental illness- brutalized Tapley, and may have killed her had the police deployment of Tasers not given the woman a chance to escape.
According to Mass Live, the Stelzer family claim that the bodybuilder was in “declining mental health” at the time of the attack and had been receiving treatment.
An autopsy was performed by the state medical examiner’s office, and it has been determined that toxicology tests will be needed before the official cause and manner of death can be announced.
Stelzer’s YouTube channel has been relatively dormant for over a year, with only 352 subscribers.
