A police officer in Arkansas is being praised for her bravery after she stepped into the middle of an armed standoff to rescue an innocent infant.

The standoff involved Farris Deloney, who led Little Rock Police on a chase after he kidnapped his child from a local Walmart. After a five-minute pursuit, he came to a stop at an intersection.

Almost instantly, five officers drew their weapons, bunched up and aimed it at the vehicle, creating a recipe for potential bloodshed for the police, an armed Deloney and his child.

Suddenly, LRPD Officer Brittany Godfrey made her way behind the vehicle and asked the Deloney to spare his one-year-old daughter from death or injury.

“Don’t do this with your baby,” she could be heard saying on the dashcam recording. “Can I get the baby, sir?”

Snagging the child, Godfrey fell back and watched as the situation de-escalated itself over the period of a few minutes.

According to USA Today, Deloney eventually surrendered, and is currently pleading not guilty to charges of kidnapping, aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a minor.
