Sin City now has a new way to keep on sinning- Narcan overdose remedy is now available from vending machines.
The vending machines are located in the Las Vegas valley, and are designed to help addicts who can’t seem to get back on track.
“There are numerous kits inside those machines,” said Krista Hales, who works for the Center for Behavioral Health. “The main goal of them was to be dispensing clean syringes for people who are engaging in intravenous or intramuscular drug use.”
In addition, pregnancy kits, contraception and other items will also be in the vending machine.
Hales appreciates Narcan, and can see why the Nevada Highway Patrol have adopted them.
“It’s readily available to anyone,” Hales said. “I carry one in my car. And I have them in my house just in case because even someone who is taking their medication as prescribed could be at risk for an overdose.”
According to KTNV, people wanting to use the machines need to register with the syringe exchange program, and will have free-access to the machine.
