LAPD officer accidentally fires round through station wall

A Los Angeles Police Department officer accidentally fired his weapons inside a police station on Saturday.

The on-duty LAPD officer inspecting the weapon inside the Hollenbeck station east of downtown when the accidental discharge occurred, CBS reported on Monday.

The officer was “conducting an inspection of his duty weapon” when the gun discharged, according to police.

The officer has not been identified but is assigned to the department’s Community Safety Partnership Bureau.

“One round was discharged into the east wall of the office,” according to an LAPD statement. “The round traveled through the office wall and impacted into the east wall of the second-floor hallway. No one was injured during the incident.”

The department’s Force Investigation Division is investigating the unintentional discharge.
