She’s known for giving a lieutenant a raunchy lap dance during a 2021 holiday party, now Vera Mekuli has been suspended from her position at the NYPD for apparently confronting New Jersey State Police over her brother’s drunk driving arrest.
According to the NY Post, Mekuli showed up at a State Police post “barefoot” and smelling like alcohol. She then began verbally berating the troopers over her brother’s arrest. She then identified herself as an NYPD officer, demanded a superior, began recording the interaction on her phone, and said, “you guys are talking out of your ass; none of this was done correctly.”
NYPD Internal Affairs was alerted of the altercation and has opened an investigation. Mekuli was then suspended until IA can finish their review.
Mekuli joined the NYPD in February 2021 and in just over a year has become a lightning rod of controversy. She grinded on a lieutenant during a Christmas party, apologized to the officer and his wife for the display, but said if it was a man it would have never gone viral.
She also insisted that she didn’t know he was married and would have never done the act if she had known.
Mekuli then used the viral moment to promote herself on social media.
