A Philadelphia-area cop has made a remarkable recovery after being shot 7 times and now he’s getting some much-deserved attention from one of the biggest names in country music.

Kenney Chesney apologized over the weekend after he mistakenly announced at a concert that Folcroft Borough Police Officer Christopher Dorman, had died.

Dorman was supposed to attend a Chesney concert in Philly Saturday night. When the singer found out about the mistake, he called Dorman in the hospital. He reportedly promised to have beers with the “Delaware County legend” and catch an Eagles game with him- according to ABC News.

Dorman -only on the job a little over a year -was shot while responding to a call about possible drug activity. Police say he was likely saved by his bulletproof vest.

Officials say Donte Brooks Island ambushed the officer and Dorman made some frantic calls for help after being shot in the face, chest, leg and groin area.

Island had recently been released from prison after serving time for drug and firearms violations, the DA said. He’s now charged with two counts of attempted murder and two counts of aggravated assault.

ABC 6 reporting that Dorman will be going home from the hospital today and given a police and fire escort.
