K9 officer murdered during traffic stop in North Carolina

Slain Mooresville Police Officer Jordan Harris Sheldon.

A Mooresville Police K9 Officer was fatally shot during what some officials are calling a ‘routine traffic stop’ Saturday night.

32-year-old Jordan Harris Sheldon was shot and killed shortly after 10 p.m. near Highway 150, according to the department.

The suspect was pursued by police to an apartment complex, where he was found dead with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Officer Sheldon was rushed to a nearby hospital following the shooting but did not survive. He had been with the department for six years.

Multiple agencies are investigating and Mooresville PD has stated they will release more information shortly.
