A Florida Man is facing a mountain of charges after trying to drown a Palm Beach County K-9 in a canal early Tuesday.
25-year-old Quinten Henderson reportedly struck a patrol car after being pulled over for speeding, fleeing the scene before eventually running into one of South Florida’s many canals.
A K-9 unit -in conjunction with the county’s air unit- responded to the scene to find the Henderson, who was eventually quelled by K-9 Alex after the suspect tried to drown the dog.
Deputies found crack cocaine, heroin and marijuana in Henderson’s car. He now faces a slew of charges, including charges of possession with intent to sell heroin, cocaine and marijuana; fleeing and eluding; aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest without violence, battery on a police dog and animal cruelty.
K-9 Alex is reported to be fine, while Henderson was taken to the hospital for hypothermia and minor lacerations.
According to the Palm Beach Post, this isn’t the first close-quarters scuffle K-9 Alex has been in- in July of last year, K-9 Alex was punched multiple times by a suspect who was hiding from deputies.
