A New Jersey police department has demoted their chief after he offered to promote an officer in exchange for sex with the officer’s his wife and underage daughter.
Vineland PD Chief Rudy Beu, 60, was found guilty of insubordination, conduct unbecoming a public employee and neglect of duty.
According to the Daily Mail, VPD took action after discovering that, in April 2017, Beu told a Sergeant under his command that he would promote him if he could have sex with his wife and 13-year-old daughter.
Needless to say, the incident went public and internal charges were filed.
Beu has been suspended with pay since Feb. 26, 2020, and Retired Judge Raymond A. Batten recommended that Chief Beu be demoted to deputy chief.
“Beu readily rises to the level of failure to perform duties, insubordination, conduct unbecoming a public employee, neglect of duty, and other sufficient cause, all as contemplated by (state law),” Batten stated.
Beau served as chief of VPD since 2017.
