A Kentucky judge has thrown out critical charges two Lousiville Metro Police Department officers faced, saying the actions of Taylor’s boyfriend led to her eventual death.
According to NBC News, Joshua Jaynes and Kyle Meaney still face other federal charges, a federal grand jury returned an indictment depriving Taylor of her constitutional right to be free of unreasonable searches and seizures.
Jaynes also faces conspiracy charges and Meany with lying to federal investigators.
The judge’s ruling effectively reduced the felony civil rights violation charges against Jaynes and Meany, which had carried a maximum sentence of life in prison, to misdemeanors
