A Rochester, NY judge was pulled over for drunk driving Saturday morning while on her way to preside over criminal court.
Judge Leticia Astacio, a Democrat, was elected to her position as city court judge in 2014. She was reportedly headed to Rochester City Court to preside over Saturday morning arraignments, when she was stopped by police.
When a NY state trooper came upon Astacio’s vehicle on I-490, her car was damaged in what was possibly a single-car crash, officials said.
Police say Astacio refused to take a Breathalyzer test. She was arrested and issued an appearance ticket, for which she’s due in court next month.
According to the Democrat & Chronicle, the 34-year old judge joined the Monroe County District’s Office in 2007, and moved to the drunken driving bureau in 2009. She later worked as senior district attorney in the Domestic Violence and Child Abuse Bureau and started her own criminal defense practice in 2011.
