ISIS threat has Virginia police increasing presence at malls

Police in Northern Virginia are increasing the number of patrol members near malls over the weekend after ISIS threatens to attack a mall.

According to WTOP, Fairfax County Sheriff learned of the purposed attack through regional terror contacts. The threat centered around an attack at a mall during Halloween weekend where people are expected to be out in large numbers for events and early holiday shopping.

Arlington police confirmed they also received the same “non-specific and unconfirmed” report.

They are taking additional measures as well.

The FBI would not confirm if the threat was practical, but said it takes every potential terror attack seriously.
