An Internal Revenue Service agent was accidentally shot and killed by a colleague Thursday while training at the Ben Avery Shooting Facility in Phoneix.

The shooting occurred Thursday morning at a federal prison’s gun range during routine interagency exercises, a Federal Bureau of Prisons spokesperson told a local CBS affiliate, adding that the site was open to several agencies.

The agent died after being taken to HonorHealth Deer Valley Medical Center, according to Charlotte Dennis of the IRS’ Phoenix Field Office.

“Our concern today is for the agent and their family,” she said in a statement.

The name of the slain agent was not immediately released. No other injuries were reported.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation, according to ABC 15.

Ben Avery Shooting Facility (BASF), formerly the Black Canyon Shooting Range, is one of the largest publicly-operated shooting facilities in the country, according to the Arizona Game and Fish Department.

FBI officials said its Phoenix field office would head the investigation and turn over their findings to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona.
