A forty-year-old Indiana man was taken into custody after he attempted to race an unmarked police car in his Dodge Charger.

Eugene Thorne was arrested following a short foot pursuit on Saturday night, a chase which originated with a challenge to race LaPorte County Sheriff’s Deputy Jim Fish, who was driving an unmarked LPCSO Dodge Charger.

Fish was traveling north near the state toll road when a vehicle closed in on his six at high speed. Attempting to accelerate to make some space, Fish was quickly overpassed by Thorne and turned on his emergency lights to stop him.

Thorne continued on his way before fleeing on foot. After about 100 yards, Thorne surrendered without incident.

According to The Michigan City News-Dispatch, Thorne admitted to trying to lure Fish into racing him. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that Thorne had felony warrant through La Porte Circuit Court for Revocation and was also found to be a Habitual Traffic Violator-10 year, a Level 6 felony. Thome was also charged with two counts of resisting law enforcement, one Level 6 felony and one class A misdemeanor. Too fast, too furious- too many felonies.
