The Illinois chapter of the Fraternal Order of Police are asking for a federal investigation into the Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx for interfering with the Jussie Smollett investigation.

According to Fox 32 Chicago, the FOP says Foxx asked Chicago PD to end the investigation and turn the case over to the FBI after she received e-mails from an attorney who is friends with the ‘Empire’ actor.

Foxx eventually recused herself of the case while Smollett was still listed as a victim and not a suspect, even still the FOP says she tried to harm the investigation by preventing the police from completing their work.

The Chicago Tribune obtained the emails. The attorney who e-mailed Foxx, Tina Tchen, is a former chief of staff to first lady Michelle Obama.

Foxx also received direct text messages from family members of Smollett’s encouraging her to have the case turned over. She even responded telling the relative she was, “trying to figure out logisitics. I’ll keep you posted.”

Smollett says two men threw bleach on him, beat him up, strangled him with a noose, and yelled out “this is MAGA country.”

The claims have been proven false because of the investigation. It appears Smollett paid two Nigerian brothers to stage the attack.

He has professed his innocence and pleaded not guilty to charges of filing a false police report.
