An Arizona State Trooper gave an emotional farewell last Thursday, issuing his last call into his radio after thirty-seven years with the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
Trooper Mark Gilberg signed off for the last time, trying to keep it together as he pressed the transmit button on his radio.
“Badge 2988 began his career…March 11, 1981,” He began. “This will be my final 10-7.”
“10-4, and you’re making me cry too, did everyone copy that?” the dispatcher responded. “We appreciate everything you have done.”
It’s been an honor and a privilege to serve in this great department and work with all you fine people. It’s been a great adventure,” he added.
Holding back tears, he maintained composure just long enough to sign off before breaking down.
According to AZ Central, the trooper called into the station from his home in Utah, a few miles from the Arizona border.
