An Indiana man is recovering after a bizarre attack left him with a broken leg and a totaled sports car.

The incident began when an unknown pickup truck followed Ron May into his Terre Haute driveway at around 11 PM on Saturday.

After putting his Corvette into park, and ordering his girlfriend to stay in the car, May was on high alert.

“I didn’t know what was going on,” he said. “I put my pistol in my right front pocket. I told my girl to stay in the car, and I just stood outside my car to see who it was,” May said.

He wondered if the driver needed directions.

When May got out of his car, the truck’s driver let out a “battle cry” and sped toward him. May reacted by jumping onto his car’s roof, firing about ten shots at the truck to protect himself.

Despite his efforts, the pickup hit his car, causing severe damage and injuring May’s leg. His girlfriend, still inside the Corvette, suffered minor injuries.

May warned others to stay alert and be ready for anything.

“Take no day for granted. You have no idea what’s coming your way. Definitely be vigilant. Mind your surroundings. You have to always be ready,” he said.

After ramming the Corvette, the naked driver—later identified as 35-year-old Dustin Roecker from Bloomington, Indiana—climbed out of the truck in his birthday suit and ran away.

According to WHITV, Roecker was later found and arrested, sustaining injuries from May’s gunfire. He is in the hospital but is expected to recover.

Roecker now faces multiple charges, including attempted murder, criminal recklessness, auto theft, and resisting law enforcement.

May’s incident serves as a reminder to stay cautious and prepared, even in familiar places.
