A group of young white and black men viciously attacked another group of men near the University of Akron while chanting ‘black lives matter’ early Sunday morning.
Authorities said that seven white men were walking when they were approached by the other group who were taunting and shouting the phrase used widely used to protest police throughout the country.
During the attack, the suspects hit the victims with bottles as well as punching and kicking them.
One of the victims was kicked in the head several times after he had fallen to the ground, according to KFVS12. The suspects then robbed the victims of their belongings before running off.
Officers with Akron police and the University of Akron responded and apprehended the suspects nearby.
Those arrested under various charges including felonious assault, robbery, riot, receiving stolen property are: Anthony M. Valasek, 18, Raejon W. Williams, 18, Jessie L. Butler, 19, James C. Vance, 22, Shane R. Thompson, 20, Bret D. Young, 25 and Jordan M McCrae, 22.
