A woman is facing battery, criminal damage, and theft of a motor vehicle after she attacked an Albuquerque police officer and stole his cruiser in a now-viral video.
According to KOAT, the woman had stolen several keys that belong to vehicles at a local car dealership.
She was attempting to steal one of them when the dealership alerted police.
The first officer to respond tried to talk the woman, identified as 38-year-old Markeda Rivera, down but instead, Rivera charged at him, threw punches, kicked the officer down, and then got into his cruiser and sped away.
Rivera caused a brief pursuit.
Even after Rivera stopped, she did not go quietly as she once again kicked an officer in the chest before being taken away.
