Georgia Klansman killed in standoff with deputies

A self-described “Imperial Wizard” of the KKK was killed in a shootout with Dooly County Deputies on Friday.

According to WALB10, an eight-hour standoff with deputies occurred after a domestic dispute with Klan member J.J. Harper.

WALB interviewed Harper twelve years ago, clad in black BDUs and describing himself as an Imperial Wizard in the KKK, a high rank in the hate group.

When asked about Harper’s affiliation with the Klan, Law Enforcement confirmed his involvement.

“Yes, he was. He had a membership drive on the courthouse steps,” said Deputy David Grantham with the Dooly County Sheriff’s Office.

Harper holed himself up during the standoff, telling deputies and media that “someone was going to die today” before firing multiple rounds at the deputies. When officers fired a round at Harper, a single gunshot echoed from his house.

While an EOD robot sent inside the home confirmed that Harper had died, the investigation into his death is still ongoing.
