The man accused of killing a Georgia police officer has been caught in Florida.

Officer Tim Smith was responding to a suspicious person call Saturday night in Dodge County, Georgia, when he was shot and killed. Police say 24-year-old Royheem Deeds shot Smith as he was getting out of his patrol car.

AJC.com reports that Smith would have turned 31 years old today. The father of three and son of a police officer joined the Eastman Police Dept in 2011.

Nassau County Jail records indicate that Deeds was arrested overnight in Hilliard, north of Jacksonville, Florida. Police say he was hiding in the trunk of a car being driven by his sister, Franshawn Deeds.

Franshawn and her boyfriend, who was riding in the passenger seat, were also arrested for hiding a fugitive. All three are now awaiting extradition to Georgia.

  1. Why fool with extradition and all of that just put a 45 cal slug in their heads and dump them in the swamp, I am sick and tired of the good people of this world having to tolerate animals like these 3.
