UK Police in South Wales made a surprise appearance in a group chat after one of Cardiff University’s students was found too intoxicated to drive.

Earlier this week, 20-year-old CU student Lawrence Court received a fairly bizarre message on his phone -originating from the contact number of his friend- during a group chat.

“Hello, it’s the police on Cameron’s phone,” read the message. “He is very drunk and we are dropping him home.”

Court told Mashable that he first thought it was a joke, and that nobody in the group was entirely convinced.

“We naturally thought it wasn’t real and that Ron (the guy involved) was playing us,” Court said.

When police realized they needed to move the dubious request along, they sent a photo of the officer.

“When the selfie came through we were in hysterics, it was so funny!” said Court. “Then it was a case of making sure that he was okay so some friends went to check on him!”

The police reportedly got Ron to his destination, though Ron himself does not remember how he got back.
