Three Bernalillo County sheriff’s deputies and a firefighter were killed after their helicopter crashed while on a flight to Albuquerque, New Mexico, Saturday evening.

According to the Albuquerque Journal, the four had just assisted Arizona firefighters battling the East Mesa Fire that has been burning outside the city.

The helicopter went down outside of Las Vegas.

Authorities have just started investigating the crash. They have not identified the victims and have only stated that there are no preliminary survivors.

Bernalillo County Commissioner Charlene Pyskoty posted on social media that she was “absolutely devastated.”
