After today’s fatal terror attack in Sweden where at least one suspect intentionally drove a large truck into a crowd of people before crashing into a department store, neighboring Norway is ordering their typically unarmed police force to carry weapons.
The order was directed to officers in Norway’s largest cities and airports.
Authorities in Oslo confirmed to the Associated Press that officers there have already begun arming themselves.
In a tweet, Norwegian police said the order to carry weapons would be in effect until further notice.
In neighboring Finland, police have increased patrols in Helsinki and elsewhere, according to Reuters.
