A Florida sheriff posted a video on social media, urging citizens to lawfully arm themselves in preparation for the next terror attack.
In a four minute video address, Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey has taken to the airwaves in the aftermath of a deadly Orlando workplace shooting.
“Folks, now more than ever is the time for our citizens to be prepared to serve as the first line of defense, not only for them, but for their families when the attack happens,” Ivey said.”
One of the self-proclaimed “most politically incorrect sheriffs in the country,” Ivey urged people with carry permits to do so, adding that those uncomfortable with a firearm should resort to less-lethal devices, such as Tasers and stun guns.
Ivey is a critic of the UK’s “Run, Hide, Tell” technique that was prominently repeated after the London attacks.
This is war, and you better be prepared to wage war to protect you, your family and those around you if attacked,” he said.
According to the Palm Beach Post, Ivey’s words were well-received by the bulk of the population who commented on the matter.
Ivey is no stranger to promoting an armed and polite society- following a 2015 mass shooting in California, he delivered a similar message, which ended up with over 4 million views.
The law enforcers for the 10th largest county in Florida, Ivey and the BCSO serve 543,376 citizens on a daily basis.
