A Florida sergeant has been stripped of his supervisor’s responsibility after body cam caught him reaching and choking a fellow officer after arresting a suspect.
According to NBC News, officers from the Sunrise Police Department had just arrested a “physically resistant” suspect who was accused of committing a violent felony on November 19th.
The sergeant was one of the last people to arrive at the scene and had a heated verbal altercation with the suspect while he was in the back of the patrol car. That anger then spilled over into a physical act against one of his own officers.
Sunrise Police Chief said that the behavior was “inappropriate and unprofessional” and that he “unnecessarily elevated the demeanor of the suspect.”
There is currently an internal investigation into the actions of the sergeant.
