A Florida police officer was stalked, shot and robbed, all in the same night, local sources say.

Doral Police Lieutenant Gary King was shot in the arm after two men had followed him home on Tuesday night, following a quick run for errands.

At least two men took part in the attack, stealing the 70-year-old’s sidearm and fleeing in a sedan.

Hours after King was slapped onto an operating table for treatment of his wounds, police detained two suspects believed to have been involved.

King had previously worked for the Miami Police Department before transferring to the Miami-Dade Police, eventually retiring and taking on duties with DPD.

According to the Miami Herald, King is reportedly doing well after his surgery and police do not believe that the robbers knew King was a lawman at the time of the robbery.
