An off-duty police officer was assaulted at a Sarasota park after he tried to stop five teenagers from harassing a homeless person on Thursday.
The Police Department is now looking for those teens who struck the officer.
According to the department’s Facebook page, the officer was jogging at Payne Park when he noticed the teens harassing the homeless person. He tried to get them to stop. The teens then took their aggression out on the officer, striking him multiple times and leaving him injured.
No word if the officer suffered any serious injuries.
