A Tulsa police officer was in a fight with a suspect when the suspect went for the officer’s gun. While struggling to maintain control of his weapon, the officer pulled out a knife and stabbed the suspect, ending the struggle.
People who have been on the department for 20 years say they can’t ever remember a time when an officer saved himself by using a knife, according to NewsOn6.
The suspect, Jeremy Thomas, 38, was released from the hospital Thursday and booked into the Tulsa County jail.
According to the report, witnesses heard the officer repeatedly yelling, “Let go of my gun, let go of my gun!”

Many of our cops carry a knife for just such situations. I’m surprised that we don’t see more of this. Way to end the fight!!!!
I don’t care if he ended the fight by biting his ear off, you do whatever you have to do to protect your weapon and your life. Many if not most Officers carry a knife for many reasons so if that was the best object he could reach to save his life, so be it.
