According to USA Today, a man impersonating an officer made a grave error Thursday morning when he attempted to pull over a vehicle only to find out the driver was an off-duty police officer.

While driving in Dumfries Virginia an off-duty police officer noticed a Crown Victoria following him. The vehicle turned on a spot light attached to his car and the officer pulled over. The man pulled up along side the vehicle, but when the off-duty police officer identified himself as a cop the driver immediately sped away. He was followed about three miles away where he fled on foot.

The Washington Post reports that police have identified the man as Shawn Michael Robinson, 27, of Alexandria, Va. He turned himself into police after a warrant was issued for his arrest.
