UPDATE: The bombing suspect has been identified as 27-year-old Akayed Ullahman, who has been in the United States for approximately 7 years and originally from Bangladesh.

Former NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton told MSNBC that this was an ISIS inspired attack.

NYPD and NY Port Authority personnel rushed to a Manhattan bus terminal this morning after reports of an explosion gave rise to suspicion of a pipe bomb attack.

An unconfirmed surveillance video of the incident (below) is circulating on Twitter.

According to NYPD’s twitter page, “The NYPD is responding to reports of an explosion of unknown origin at 42nd Street and 8th Ave, #Manhattan. The A, C and E line are being evacuated at this time. Info is preliminary, more when available.”

Police and scanner sources within the tweet’s feed report that there is one person in custody and there are injuries.

Early reports are that the suspect was wearing what appeared to be a suicide vest but that it or another explosive device went off early, injuring the suspect.
