Police are investigating an attempted armed robbery by an eight-year old boy in West Palm Beach Wednesday evening.
According to WPTV, the attempted robbery occurred when a young boy wearing a motorcycle helmet “quietly and confidently” entered the King Foods and Meat Bazaar wielding a concealed handgun he had allegedly stolen from his mother. He then demanded that the cashier ‘give (him) the f-ing money.'”
The clerk and another employee quickly took action, disarming the young man.
“All of a sudden I’m so shocked”, the clerk said. “I don’t know if it’s a real gun or if it’s a fake gun, but my priority is to take it away from him because I don’t know. I just turned his wrist and took it out from his hand. At that point, another coworker of mine grabbed him.”
Authorities informed the media that the young boy was hospitalized for his own safety and that while the incident is being investigated, no charges have been filed at the present time.
In 2008, a similar incident occurred in the area when a 7-year old boy took his grandmother’s car on a joyride. The incident gained much local notoriety.
