A New Jersey police chief from Independence Township may lose his job after new video shows him being pulled over- and hitching a ride with his officers.
The incident, which took place in February, reportedly began when officers from TPD were alerted to an SUV that was driving erratically. Seeing the SUV sideswipe a guardrail, the unit running the dash camera turned on lights and siren and took pursuit.
Behind the wheel was none other than Police Chief Keith Aiello, who not only exited his vehicle with unsteady feet but denied any crazy wheelwork on his part.
“Not me,” he said.
After speaking to Aiello, the officers looked over his SUV, and motioned him to get into one of their cruisers.
According to WFMZ, no alcohol testing was performed, and no charges were filed.
Aiello has since been suspended without pay.
The video was obtained through an advocate, who successfully sued to have the footage released.
