A Broward Sheriff’s Office detention deputy and a detention technician have been arrested after an investigation by the BSO Public Corruption Unit revealed they were having inappropriate contact with two inmates housed at the BSO North Broward Bureau.
Public Corruption investigators received confidential information alleging two employees who worked the midnight shift were engaging in official misconduct. Acting on the tip, detectives conducted a week-long undercover operation and confirmed the inappropriate actions of Detention Deputy Tara Clark and Detention Technician Genice Cisnow.
Both women were spending countless hours socializing and engaging in sexual acts with two male inmates. Cisnow, who worked as a control room technician tasked with monitoring inmates’ activities and ensuring the officers’ safety, was allowing an inmate inside the secured control room. Meanwhile, Deputy Clark, who was supposed to conduct inmate checks, inspections and keep a head count, was spending time in a hallway with the other inmate. Cisnow and Clark then falsified their work logs to show that they conducted their required tasks.
The two inmates involved are incarcerated for crimes such as strong-arm robbery, robbery with a firearm, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and escape.
When confronted with the information, both women admitted to the inappropriate contact and acknowledged it could have resulted in a serious security breach. Both denied having sexual intercourse with the inmates.
Cisnow and Clark face multiple charges of official misconduct and have been suspended without pay.
