A South Carolina deputy in Greenville County was mauled by 3 dogs on Saturday evening while responding to a disturbance call at a home.
Arriving at the home, the unidentified deputy took note of multiple large and aggressive canines on the property and asked 40-year-old Shona Denise Thompson to secure the animals.
Not long after the request, Thompson let the dogs loose on him, resulting in the deputy being bitten multiple times.
In response to the threat, the deputy opened fire, hitting at least one of the dogs, which was sent to an animal hospital. According to WYFF4, two were later secured by animal control and a third is on the loose.
The deputy was taken to the hospital, where he was stitched up and subsequently released.
Thompson has been charged with second-degree assault and battery for allegedly deploying the dogs to attack the officer.
