A Highland County Sheriff’s deputy suffered a few bumps and bruises from this daring attempt to stop a man who had just been sentenced for drug possession charges.

According to the Highland County Press, Nickolaus Kyle Garrison was in the courthouse to receive his sentence for methamphetamines’ charges. The judge gave him a six month sentence and soon after Garrison was sprinting towards the doors.

In the video, you can see three deputies in pursuit of Garrison, and when he turns the corner and starts to head down the stairs, one of the deputies lunges over the railing in an attempt to tackle him.

Garrison was just too quick for the deputies as he evaded their attempts and was eventually able to get out the door.

Thanks to some tips, Garrison was located and re-arrested in the next county over three days later.

He’ll now face additional charges after his escape act.
