Riveting dashcam footage shows a bizarre showdown between Orlando officers and an armed pregnant woman suspected of stealing a car.
According to WFTV9, 35-year-old Danielle Evans and two passengers were spotted driving a stolen vehicle when officers took pursuit.
The chase ensued, ending in a parking lot. With reports coming in that the suspects were armed, officers felt threatened.
“Any time someone steals someone’s car and threatens to be armed, it’s very dangerous,” Police Chief John Mina said. “And any time anyone runs from the police, that creates another dangerous situation.”
Officers fired multiple shots into the windshield, hitting Evans in the arm.
Evans was 5 months pregnant at the time of the incident and two other suspects are in custody. Evans’ attorney is requesting early release due to her now being half a month away from going into labor and Evans’ wish for the baby to be born in a hospital. She has four other children.
The names of the officers are not being released at this time and state law enforcement is investigating the shooting.
