Around thirty ATV riders surrounded and stopped an ambulance carrying a sick child Monday- and police are working together to put a stop to the chaos.
ATVs and dirt bike riders have been ravaging the streets of Washington D.C. for some time now, riding en masse through stoplights, over sidewalks and even hitting and dragging a police officer over the weekend.
According to NBC Washington, The most recent incident involved as many as 30 riders who swarmed an ambulance when one of the riders felt he was cut off. The ambulance was was transporting a sick child to Children’s National Medical Center in Northwestern D.C.
The ambulance drive called 911 and the riders dispersed as police arrived.
The riders are a recurring theme, causing chaos whenever they arrive.
“They come back every summer,” Police Chief Cathy Lanier said.
Local and Federal authorities are now joining forces to put an end to the illegal atv gangs.
