A 28-year-old Georgia woman was arrested Saturday, after running over a police officer while he was trying to take her into custody.
The Barrow County Sheriff’s office says the suspect sped off while Statham Police Officer Marc Lofton was attempting to make an arrest during a traffic stop, 55 miles northeast of Atlanta.
When Officer Lofton asked the woman her name, she responded: Jessica LeBlanc. She used a fake name apparently, because she was wanted for probation violation. As the cop tries to get her out of the car, they struggle a bit, and he starts to pull her out. While Lofton is still halfway inside the car, the woman drives off and runs him over.
The officer can be heard calling on his radio for back-up and telling dispatch the woman’s real name – Jessica Fox.
She is now facing a long list of charges including: “Fleeing and attempting to elude law enforcement, aggravated battery on a police officer and aggravated assault on a police officer.”
Authorities say Fox drove over both the officers’ legs. KCCI reported, he had to be taken to the hospital but his condition is not known.
