This is not your typical bubbly birthday clown. Someone, clearly looking for attention, has now made Chicago the latest city to witness another one of these strange clown sightings.
One local woman tells CBS 2 she had a close encounter with the clown earlier this month. Her cell phone video shows a person dressed in a clown suit, trespassing at historic Rosehill Cemetery in the dead of night.
Julia Graham says she was “freaked out” at the figure as it ran toward the main gate. She and her husband were driving by around 10 p.m. Her husband snapped a shot of the clown scaling the 7-foot-tall gate at one of the entrances to the cemetery. It got weirder, Graham said, when she and her husband hung around to get a better look, the clown just waved slowly at them instead of taking off.
Eventually though, after their headlights put a spotlight on him, the clown disappeared into the darkness without saying a word.
Officials don’t know what to make of it because other than the trespass there were no complaints of vandalism, according to the CBS report.
This is not the first time video of creepy clowns has surfaced. Other bizarre incidents in California were recorded of clowns surprising people on the streets, in the middle of the night. In New York, there have been weird clown sightings during the day. One video shows a clown holding balloons taking a stroll inside a cemetery.
Chicago police say there have been no other bizarre clown sightings.
