The Sutter County Sheriff has decided to let his deputies display their ink.
According to CBS13, Sheriff Brandon Barnes has reversed a long-standing policy that required officers to cover up their tattoos.
The sheriff said the tattoos are a form of expression and he wants them to be able to show it off.
One deputy says it also allows them to relate to the communities they patrol.
In Northern California, at least two other law enforcement agencies allow their officers to show off their tattoos while two others require them to be covered.
