California officers hoping for a meal got a kick to their morale after a derogatory message was left on their receipt from a pretentious pizza provider last Thursday.
The Pieology Pizzeria location in Torrance had some explaining to do after officers received a receipt that said “F*** the cops” on it.
Torrance police Sgt. Ronald Harris confirmed to Snopes that a Torrance officer received the receipt, resulting in the police following up on the matter.
“The officer went to lunch there [Thursday] and he later shared that receipt with some of his peers earlier this morning [18 September 2017],” he said. “The wife of another officer found out and posted it to her private social media account. Due to the publicity that received, the department became aware of it. We did send a representative down there and left our info. Our goal was to speak with management to make sure we build that bridge and let them know we have no bad feelings toward their business.”
Pieology immediately scrambled to make a statement distancing themselves from the employee responsible.
“The actions of this employee do not in any way reflect the thoughts of Pieology,” a statement read, “and we are taking swift and serious action to rectify the situation, including terminating the offending employee.”
According to ABC4, the pizzeria is offering food at half price to uniformed personnel.
