A California man placed a man under citizen’s arrest after he found out the individual was “grooming” his underaged daughter.
When Clovis resident Todd Thomas found a strange cell phone in his daughter’s possession, he began suspecting something was off.
“I was shocked at what I found,” Thomas said. “The messages this man had sent to my daughter are worse than anything I’d say to a one-night stand.”
The messages were coming from a 42-year-old man, identified as Hugo Rabson, who had slipped her a cellphone inside of a hollowed-out book. Thomas never allowed his 14-year-old daughter to have a phone- and for good reason.
“Daddy needs to see his little girl… naked,” one message from Rabson said.
Needless to say, Thomas was furious.
“I wanted him gone, off the face of the earth,” he said. “I couldn’t believe he’d done this to my baby.”
Knowing he wasn’t going to get justice if he flew off the handle (he lives in California, after all), Thomas posed as his daughter and asked Rabson to meet him.
Bringing a friend, he caught Rabson on film and made a citizen’s arrest.
Clovis Police and the Fresno County Sheriff’s Department arrested Rabson, and despite the offender deleting the evidence off his own phone, it wasn’t a total loss- police still had the one he had given the girl.
According to ABC30, prosecutors charged him with felony arranging a meeting with a minor for lewd or lascivious behavior. Rabson has pleaded not guilty and is out on a $30,000 bond.
