San Bernardino Sheriff’s Deputy is in critical but stable condition after after being ambushed and stabbed in a Hobby Lobby parking lot. The deputy was able to fire at least 3 shots in self defense.
The unnamed Sergeant forced to open fire after she was assaulted during a welfare check by the very man who made the 911 call.
“Our dispatch center received a 911 call from the subject who claimed he had been abducted and making other statements that didn’t seem to be making sense,” said Sheriff John McMahon.
The Sergeant was stabbed multiple times in the chest and face before she drew her weapon, something witness Jonathan Schultz was willing to confirm.
“I don’t know how deep it got … (or) what kind of weapon he used,” Schultz said. “He got her good – got her in the head and got her in the shoulder. But, for the gal that she was, she did very well.”
Despite firing her weapon up to times at close range, the Sergeant and 26-year veteran of the department missed the assailant.
According to ABC7, the deputy is expected to survive the ordeal.
