Sept. 15–A woman was arrested early Tuesday, accused of running over a police officer’s foot while fleeing from a traffic stop.
Exzanty Moore, 23, was arrested following a traffic stop and short pursuit, said police Master Sgt. Gary Knight.
About midnight, a police officer stopped a woman at SW 25 and S Kentucky Avenue on a traffic complaint. She refused to provide identification and was argumentative, so officers placed stop sticks in front of her car, Knight said.
According to News Channel 4, the arrest affidavit stated that “she proceeded to tell me how we had no authority over her and that she did not need to provide us with any form of identification. I tried to calmly explain to [Moore] that she was mistaken but she refused to waiver from her stance. Instead, she handed me a pamphlet titled ‘Do You Know Your Rights?”
The driver then accelerated, driving over the stop sticks in front of her and the officer’s foot.
Moore was arrested in front of 1240 SW 35. The officer was treated and released at a nearby hospital.
