Aug. 30–Hayward, CA — Police Chief Diane Stuart has been placed on administrative leave, officials said Monday.
Stuart was “placed on paid administrative leave for a personnel issue,” said Hayward police Sgt. Ryan Cantrell. Further details of the personnel matter were not available.
“All I can say is that the chief has been placed on administrative leave pending a personnel investigation,” said Hayward City Manager Kelly McAdoo.
The city manager appointed Capt. Mark Koller as the acting chief.
Stuart was elected as first woman to lead the city’s police department in August 2011, according to her bio on the city’s website. She began her law enforcement career in 1986 with the San Jose Police Department.
