UPDATE:  The suspect in today’s Capitol Visitor Center shooting has been identified as Larry Russell Dawson, who is known to police and once interrupted a House session claiming to be a ‘prophet of god.’

The lockdown and the ‘shelter-in-place’ orders have been lifted. The latest reports are indicating that DC Metro is stating that the incident has been contained and there is no active threat to the public.

One officer has been shot and a gunman is in custody after a shooting at the U.S. Capitol’s Visitor Center, according to the Sergeant-At-Arms, as is being reported by multiple news outlets.

The White House and all buildings in the Capitol complex are on lockdown due to the security threat.

People outside have been told to seek cover.

The wounded officer was a member of the Capitol police.

CNN is reporting in a separate incident, the White House is on lockdown due to someone attempting to jump over the White House fence.  As a note to LEO Affairs readers, CNN is notorious for having initial reports incorrect.

The latest reports are indicating that DC Metro is stating that the incident has been contained and there is no active threat to the public.

  1. FYI….”DC METRO” is the name of the TRANSIT POLICE……and NOT, the Metropolitan Police of the District of Columbia…aka MPDC……who, by the way..would NOT be the lead law enforcement agency making such pronouncements as to “threats”….BUT, a very reliable source of info.

  2. As a minority resident of Nashville, feeling compelled to speak for it – please keep dude there. We do not want him back.

    K? Thanks.
